The ICC board meeting, which was scheduled to discuss important matters regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, has been canceled for a surprising reason.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has canceled its meeting regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. According to reports from Pakistan media, the meeting will now be held on 7th December (Saturday).
The meeting was originally scheduled for 5th December (Thursday) to discuss issues related to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The meeting was set to take place at 3:30 PM UAE time (5:00 PM IST), and newly elected president Jay Shah was supposed to chair it.
However, just minutes before the meeting was set to begin, the ICC decided to postpone it. This means that it will take a few more days to reach conclusions regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled for next year, in February-March.
According to reports, the meeting was postponed by the newly appointed ICC president, Jay Shah. The decision was made because the BCCI did not respond to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s proposal, despite being given almost a week to respond.
With the meeting now scheduled for 7th December, it is expected that the final decision regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be taken on that day. While no official confirmation has been made, it is anticipated that the conclusions regarding the tournament will be revealed on the same day.
Earlier reports had suggested that the ICC was ready to accept the hybrid model during the meeting concerning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. It was said that most participating countries had agreed to play the tournament under this format.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ready to Accept Hybrid Model:
Even the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which was previously against the hybrid model, has agreed to play the tournament under this format. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been selected as the main venue for all of India’s league matches and two knockout games—one semi-final and one final.
According to reports, the PCB made four demands in exchange for accepting the hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, most of these demands are expected to be rejected by the ICC, as they do not see any reason to accept them.
PCB Demands Hybrid Model for All ICC Events in India Until 2031:
The PCB demanded that all ICC events in India be held under the hybrid model until 2031. Additionally, they requested a tri-nation series between India, Pakistan, and a third country, to be held at a neutral venue, possibly in the UAE. However, both the ICC and BCCI do not seem to agree with this idea, and the proposal is likely to be rejected.
ICC Champions Trophy 2025:
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be played next year. It will be the first such tournament since 2017. All eight teams are fully prepared to win this prestigious trophy and make an impact.
