Former CSK all-rounder Deepak Chahar recently spoke openly about his interactions with MS Dhoni after the IPL 2025 auction. Chahar, an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2018, credited former CSK captain MS Dhoni for his personal growth.

In an interview with Sportstar, Chahar was asked about any post-auction communication with MS Dhoni. Chahar claimed he hadn’t spoken to Dhoni yet, as the legendary captain doesn’t talk much over the phone.
Chahar stated that he had an incredible time with Dhoni in the CSK setup and is planning to meet him before the next IPL season.
“Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni) doesn’t talk much on the phone, but I’ll meet him soon. I had an amazing time under him at CSK, and though we are now on opposing teams, I’ll definitely meet him before the season begins,” Chahar said.
Chahar’s Role with the New Ball
Deepak Chahar was primarily utilized by MS Dhoni to bowl with the new ball during the powerplay. The 32-year-old established himself as one of the best new-ball bowlers in the IPL, thanks to his swing and seam abilities.
Over the years, Chahar added variety to his bowling and began bowling in death overs as well. Dhoni effectively utilized Chahar’s skills, ensuring he bowled to his full potential, especially with the new ball.
